The museum was founded in 1975 to preserve artifacts from the Baekje Kingdom period, including significant items discovered in the Tomb of King Muryeong. This royal burial site was one of the most important archaeological discoveries and provided insights into burial practices and life at the royal court.
The Ungjin Baekje section displays archaeological finds that show the advanced civilization and artistic skills of the ancient Korean kingdom. You can see here how people lived at that time and what mattered to them.
The museum is located in the Ungjin district and is open to visitors every day. There is also a regional storage facility where additional artifacts are kept and preserved.
The museum preserves royal foot and head rests recovered from the Tomb of King Muryeong that provide insight into ancient Korean burial customs. These personal items offer a rare look at everyday objects used by the kings of that time.
