Baekje Cultural Land, Historical theme park in Buyeo County, South Korea
Baekje Cultural Land is a theme park in Buyeo County that has reconstructed ancient palaces, temples, and residential buildings from the Baekje kingdom period. The complex spreads across extensive grounds and displays how these historical structures might have looked in their original form.
The project began in the 1990s as an effort to preserve and share the history of the ancient Baekje kingdom with the public. The first structures were completed in the early 2000s, and the complete park concept was then fully realized.
The reconstructed buildings show how people from different social classes lived during the Baekje period, from palace structures to simple homes. Walking through these spaces reveals the stark differences in daily life between the wealthy and common people.
The grounds are quite large, so comfortable shoes are recommended and you should allow plenty of time to explore. Shuttle services are available to travel between different areas of the site if you prefer not to walk everywhere.
The site serves regularly as a filming location for Korean historical television series, which gives the place an additional cinematic dimension. Many of the scenes you see were used by camera crews for national productions.
