Taehwagang National Garden, Park in Jung-gu, Ulsan, South Korea
Taehwagang National Garden is a large riverside park in the Jung-gu district of Ulsan, South Korea, running along the Taehwa River. It features wide walking paths, open lawns, small ponds, wooded sections, and seasonal flower beds spread across the grounds.
The land along the Taehwa River was once used for farming before the city of Ulsan began transforming it into a public green space over the course of the 20th century. In 2019, it was officially designated as one of South Korea's first national gardens, giving it a new level of recognition.
The park is open year-round and easy to walk through, with flat, well-marked paths that do not require special footwear. Spring and autumn draw the most visitors, so arriving early in the morning or on a weekday helps you move around more freely.
When the site received its national garden designation in 2019, it became one of only two places in South Korea to hold that title at the time, alongside Suncheon Bay National Garden. The category was created specifically to recognize large public green spaces of national value, making this park part of a very small group.
