Yongmeori Coast, Coast in Seogwipo, South Korea

Yongmeori Coast, also known as Dragon's Head Cliff, is a coastal formation on the southwest side of Jeju Island, near Seogwipo, South Korea. The cliffs are made of volcanic rock with visible layers and curves shaped by the sea over a very long time.

This coast was formed by the oldest volcanic activity on Jeju Island, dating back more than one million years. The rock is therefore far older than most other formations found elsewhere on the island.

Local women set up small stalls near the rocks to sell fresh seafood, and visitors often sit on the rocks to eat while looking at the ocean. Bringing cash is a good idea, as the vendors usually do not accept cards.

The site does not open every day, as officials check wave and tide conditions each morning before allowing entry. The path follows the rocky edge without fences or railings, so sturdy footwear is a must, and people with limited mobility should plan accordingly.

Despite how solid the cliffs look, the sea level around this coast is rising faster than in many other places, which speeds up the erosion of the rock. This means the path can look noticeably different from one year to the next.
