Perşembe Yaylası is a highland plateau in the Aybastı district of Ordu province, Turkey, sitting at around 1500 meters above sea level. It consists of open grassy areas crossed by winding streams and surrounded by forested hills.
The area around Perşembe Yaylası has been used by local communities for generations, mainly for livestock grazing and seasonal farming. The 17th-century Ottoman traveler Evliya Çelebi mentioned this region in his travel writings, showing how long it has been known.
The most visible cultural event at the highland is the July festival, where local music, folk dances, and traditional wrestling draw visitors from across the country. Outside of that period, the area follows a slow rural rhythm tied to seasonal patterns and outdoor life.
The roads leading up to Perşembe Yaylası are narrow and winding, so careful driving is important, especially near the top. Once there, bring sturdy footwear and layers of clothing, as the weather at this altitude can shift quickly.
