Gito Yaylası, Highland hamlet and plateau in Kantarlı, Turkey
Gito Yaylası is a small highland settlement at around 2400 meters elevation, located in the Kantarlı district of Turkey. It consists of roughly 50 to 60 simple houses surrounded by open meadows and patches of forest.
Gito Yaylası has long served as a seasonal pasture, with families from the surrounding villages moving up to the highland with their animals each summer. This pattern of use has shaped the settlement over generations.
Gito Yaylası is used mainly in summer by families from nearby villages who come to graze their animals on the highland pasture. It is common to see people sharing meals outdoors on the grass, following a tradition tied to the seasonal rhythm of the land.
The road to Gito Yaylası is steep and rocky in places, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended. After rain, the track can become muddy, so dry weather makes the drive significantly easier.
Although Gito Yaylası is administratively part of Çamlıhemşin, most of its visitors actually come from the neighboring district of Çayeli. This means the place is shaped more by the communities that use it than by the district it officially belongs to.
