Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc, Religious monument in Horni namesti, Czech Republic
The Holy Trinity Column rises 35 meters high and features numerous sandstone sculptures depicting religious figures, saints, and allegorical representations on multiple levels.
Construction began in 1716 under architect Wenzel Render as a memorial to mark the end of a devastating plague that affected Olomouc in the late 17th century.
The monument represents the peak of Central European Baroque column construction, combining religious symbolism with architectural elements in a grand public display.
The column stands in the center of Olomouc's main square, with ongoing renovations scheduled until 2026 limiting full visibility of certain sections.
A small chapel integrated into the base of the column allows visitors to enter the structure, making it different from other plague monuments of the period.
