Botanical Garden Liberec, Botanical garden in Liberec, Czech Republic.
The Botanical Garden Liberec contains multiple greenhouses where tropical, subtropical, and native Czech plants are cultivated. The collection spreads across several hectares and divides into specialized sections, each providing the right conditions for different plant types.
The garden was established in the 19th century and has operated as a collection point for European and exotic plants since then. The greenhouses have been updated multiple times to improve growing conditions for the plants.
School groups and families regularly visit to explore seasonal exhibitions and learn about plant diversity through the different zones. Visitors can wander independently or join guided tours to understand the plants and their growing conditions.
The garden is best visited early in the day or on weekdays when fewer people are around. The paths are well marked and lead through all sections, so visitors can walk without advance planning.
During the 1990s, much of the plant collection had to be moved out of the old greenhouses while they underwent complete replacement. This demanding process actually helped expand the collections and improve the overall infrastructure.
