Hostan

Hostan is a former brewery building in Znojmo that combines functionalist and historicist architectural styles. The complex includes a steam boiler house and extensive underground cellars that were used for storing beer.

Brewing rights at this location were granted in 1278 by King Rudolf I, establishing a long tradition. The current building was constructed in 1720 and has remained part of the townscape since then.

The building once served as the heart of local brewing culture and the spaces inside still reflect this heritage. The way the structure was designed shows how important beer production was to the town.

The site is no longer in operation but functions as an exhibition space where visitors can explore the rooms. Allow time to examine the underground cellars and production facilities in detail during your visit.

The building now houses a collection from the National Agricultural Museum featuring machinery from the 1930s. This equipment came from Škoda plants and shows the industrial brewing technology of that era.
