Masaryk Circuit, race track
Masaryk Circuit is a 5.403 km asphalt road racing circuit opened on 18 July 1987 in the Podkomorské lesy woods, mostly in Brno-Žebětín with its start area in Ostrovačice. A long straight runs past a pit building under a flat white canopy, a white gantry spans the track, and a grandstand with blue seats stands behind a low white wall and catch fence. A separate smaller closed loop sits inside the layout.
The original Masaryk Circuit opened on 28 September 1930 over 29.194 km of public roads around Bosonohy, built in under six months with backing from President Masaryk's office and inspired by the Nürburgring. Grand Prix racing ran until 1937, returned for the 1949 Czechoslovakian Grand Prix watched by some 380,000 spectators, and moved to the present 5.403 km permanent track opened on 18 July 1987.
