Biskupská kupa, Mountain summit at Czech-Polish border.
Biskupská kupa is a mountain summit on the Czech-Polish border standing at 890 meters above sea level. It forms the highest point of the Opawskie Mountains in the Eastern Sudetes and features an observation tower providing views across the border region.
The stone observation tower was built in 1898 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I's reign. This construction marked the beginning of the site's development as a tourist destination in the Sudetes.
The mountain's name reflects its historical role marking the boundary between the medieval bishoprics of Olmütz and Kraków. This naming carries meaning that visitors can connect to the region's religious and administrative past.
The observation tower opens to visitors from May through October with access providing views of both Czech and Polish territories. The path to the summit requires moderate physical fitness, and climbing the tower's interior stairs is necessary to reach the top viewing platform.
On clear days, visitors can spot Wrocław city and the High Tatras peaks from the tower despite their distance of over 100 kilometers away. This exceptional long-distance visibility makes the location a special vantage point when weather conditions align.
