Neuberg

Neuberg is a castle ruin near Podhradí featuring a stone tower rising about 22 meters above a hilltop. The structure still shows the basic layout of a medieval fortress with visible wall sections.

The castle was founded in the late 1200s and first documented in 1288 when King Rudolf granted it to regional rulers. A major fire in 1610 caused significant damage and led the owning family to shift their focus elsewhere.

The ruins mark a place where regional noble families once held power and shaped local life for centuries. The site reflects a period when such fortifications were centers of authority and community activity.

Access to the tower requires a key from the municipal office, as the site has no regular opening hours. Plan ahead and check locally for current conditions before visiting.

The tower was built so solidly that it survived the devastating 1610 fire that destroyed much of the fortress. This durability makes it a rare example of construction quality from that period.
