Doubrava Chateau

Doubrava Chateau is a Gothic Revival castle in Aš featuring two main sections with a rectangular wing topped by a gabled roof and a square tower decorated with battlements. The combination of these elements creates a distinctive appearance that stands out in the landscape.

This residence was built in 1760 for Count Zedtwitz and underwent major renovations in the 19th century to incorporate Gothic Revival architectural elements. These modifications reflected the architectural trends that were gaining popularity across Europe at that time.

The coat of arms of the Zedtwitz family displayed at the entrance came from the demolished Kopaniny chateau and reflects the region's noble past. These heraldic symbols tell the story of the families who once ruled the area.

This residence operates as a restaurant since 1990, allowing visitors to experience the interior of the historical structure. It is helpful to ask upon arrival which areas are accessible, as some parts may remain in use for dining operations.

It is the only surviving Zedtwitz family residence in the Aš region, while similar estates were destroyed after 1945. This makes it a rare testament to family heritage that would have otherwise vanished completely.
