Powder Tower, Medieval fortified tower in Old Town, Czech Republic.
The 65-meter tower displays intricate Gothic architecture with detailed stone carvings, sculptures, and heraldic emblems across its four main facades.
Construction began in 1475 under master builder Václav, marking the ceremonial entrance where Bohemian kings started their coronation processions into the city.
The exterior features statues of significant Czech rulers including Charles IV and George of Poděbrady, accompanied by their territorial coats of arms.
Visitors climb 186 stone steps to reach the observation gallery at 44 meters, with seasonal opening hours varying throughout the year.
The structure gained its current name in the 18th century when it functioned as a gunpowder storage facility, replacing its original designation as New Tower.
