Palác Pachtů z Rájova

The Palác Pachtů z Rájova is a four-wing baroque structure built around a central courtyard where a decorative fountain with a stone lion head stands. The main entrance features an ornate portal decorated with the family coat of arms, reflecting the wealth and status of its original inhabitants.

The Pachta family acquired several medieval buildings after 1647 and later merged them into one unified complex around 1770. This transformation across two generations turned scattered properties into a cohesive baroque residence.

The name reflects the Pachta family who shaped this place for centuries, leaving their identity woven into its artistic details and design. Walking through the inner courtyard today, you can still sense their presence in the decorated elements and the overall character of the space.

The building is located at Celetná 31 in the Old Town and houses a hotel that operates within its baroque spaces. You can view the architectural details from the street and courtyard, with access to some interior areas depending on the hotel's policies.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed six German dances during a stay at the palace, a musical contribution that linked him to this spot. His time as a guest created a lasting artistic connection between the location and one of Europe's greatest composers.
