Klínovec, Mountain summit in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic
Klínovec is a mountain peak in the Ore Mountains rising to 1,244 meters, making it the highest point in this range. The summit features a stone observation tower and a television broadcasting installation that dominates the skyline.
A wooden observation tower from 1817 initially drew visitors from Karlsbad until a fire destroyed it in 1868. The stone tower that replaced it was completed between 1883 and 1884, with a hotel added a decade later.
The summit draws visitors seeking views across the landscape and a sense of elevation above the surrounding region. People gather here to experience the changing seasons and enjoy moments in the open air far from busy towns.
The summit is accessible by road from Boží Dar, via marked hiking trails, or year-round by chairlift. Visitors can choose their approach depending on time available and physical ability.
An 80-meter television broadcasting tower from the 1950s stands prominently on the summit. This installation still transmits signals to the surrounding regions.
