Milštejn Castle, Gothic castle ruin in Trávník, Czech Republic.
Milštejn Castle is a ruined fortress in the Lusatian Mountains, situated at approximately 560 meters elevation. The remaining walls and towers show the structure of a medieval defensive complex.
The fortress was built around 1250 as part of a network of fortified settlements established by the Lords of Warttenberg along a major trade route. It formed part of a defensive system that controlled the surrounding region.
The ruins display medieval building techniques visible in the standing walls and towers that remain today. Visitors can observe how such fortified structures were organized and constructed.
The ruins are accessible by way of marked hiking trails starting from nearby towns such as Cvikov. The location sits on a wooded ridge and is best explored on foot.
The fortress served as a link between two other fortified installations and helped secure an important local route. This role as an intermediary position made it valuable to the trade network of its era.
