Vítkov is a municipality in Opava District positioned at 480 meters elevation in the Moravian-Silesian Region. It encompasses several settlements including Jelenice, Klokočov, and Lhotka and serves as an administrative hub for surrounding communities.
The settlement dates back to 1301 when Vítek of Kravaře founded the town. Vikštejn Castle and the first structures of local rule also emerged during the second half of the 13th century.
The neo-Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built between 1914 and 1918, stands as the main landmark in the town center. This building shapes the look of the place and reflects the skilled craftsmanship of that era.
