Červenohorské sedlo, Mountain saddle in Jeseníky Mountains, Czech Republic
Červenohorské sedlo is a mountain pass at around 1013 meters in the Jeseníky Mountains in northern Moravia, Czech Republic, linking the municipalities of Bělá pod Pradědem and Loučná nad Desnou. The pass holds a mountain rescue station, a shelter for travelers, and a set of ski tows used during winter.
The shelter at the pass was built in 1935 by the Club of Czech Tourists and has since served as a base for mountain travelers in the area. Over the following decades, the pass grew into a recognized stop for both hikers and rescue operations in the Jeseníky range.
The saddle is a meeting point for hikers and skiers from across the region, who stop here to rest and take in the views of the surrounding peaks. Memorial stones along the nearby slopes recall people who lost their lives in the Jeseníky Mountains over the years.
The pass is reachable by car along a road that crosses the Jeseníky range, and a parking area is available near the shelter. Weather on the pass can shift quickly regardless of the season, so bringing layers and waterproof clothing is a good idea.
The pass sits on one of the few roads that cross the Jeseníky range from one side to the other, making it a natural bottleneck for all traffic moving through the area. Cyclists know it as one of the harder climbs in Moravian mountain cycling, with sustained steep sections that draw riders looking for a challenge.
