Štramberská Trúba, Stone observation tower in Štramberk, Czech Republic.
Štramberská Trúba is a cylindrical stone observation tower that rises about 35 meters (115 ft) above the town of Štramberk. An interior staircase leads upward to a viewing gallery with information panels positioned at each window.
This tower was built in the 13th century as part of a defensive castle complex that once protected the region. In 1903, architect Kamil Hilbert from Prague oversaw a major reconstruction that restored and modernized the structure.
The tower takes its name from an ancient castle that once dominated this area and represents the medieval roots of the region. Today, it serves as a focal point where visitors connect with how people here lived centuries ago.
Visitors enter through the adjacent Jaroňkov building, where tickets are purchased before climbing the tower. The same building houses a gallery displaying regional folk crafts and traditional art that can be viewed before or after the climb.
Inside the tower, an exhibition with about 15 stations guides visitors through the local history of the place. This journey through time as you climb makes the ascent a richer experience than a typical viewing tower visit.
