Šerlich, Mountain summit in Kłodzko County, Czech Republic

Šerlich is a mountain summit in the Sudetes located near Kłodzko that rises to 1027 meters above sea level. From the top, you can see far across the surrounding valleys and forested landscapes of the region.

Šerlich lies on the main ridge of the Orlické hory, on the European watershed between the Baltic and North Sea basins, and the state border runs across the summit. Masarykova chata, the chalet on the southeastern slope about 600 m from the top, was built in 1925 to a design by architect Bohuslav Fuchs; it was his first realised work. The red-marked Jiráskova cesta, the main ridge trail of the Orlické hory, passes over the summit between Nové Město nad Metují and Jablonné nad Orlicí.

The red-marked Jiráskova cesta, the main ridge trail of the Orlické hory, runs over the summit and links Nové Město nad Metují with Jablonné nad Orlicí. The trail carries the name of writer Alois Jirásek, and the summit is a customary stop on it.

Several marked hiking trails lead to the summit from different starting points, with the eastern path offering the gentlest climb. Good shoes and enough time to walk up are the main things needed for a pleasant visit.

A second, lower summit called Šerlich – JV vrchol (1019 m) lies about 500 m southeast of the main top and 100 m above Masarykova chata; it was named by the authors of the Tisícovky Čech, Moravy a Slezska project. A 30-metre lookout tower shaped like a flying saucer is planned at the upper station of the ski lift.
