Lesní Hluboké Castle

Lesní Hluboké Castle is a baroque structure featuring ornate facades with detailed stonework and elaborate interior staircases from the late 18th century. The rooms display an array of decorative elements and architectural details that showcase the craftsmanship of that era.

The castle was built in 1770 by the Rajhrad monastery and initially functioned as a hunting lodge and administrative headquarters for nearby forest management. After decades of state control, it was returned to the Benedictine community in 2015.

The Chapel of Saint Anne inside reflects the spiritual life of the Benedictine monks who retreated here seasonally and left traces of their daily routines throughout the rooms.

The castle sits in a wooded area west of Brno and can be accessed by road through the surrounding countryside. Visiting works best when you check opening times and access details in advance since it functions as both a monastery residence and visitor site.

The castle contains underground vaults and cellars that once stored supplies and ice for preservation, with some sections still visible today. These hidden areas reveal the practical needs of daily life during the baroque period.
