The Czech Museum of Silver occupies a Gothic building called Hrádek and presents exhibitions about mining history through reconstructed medieval mines and tunnels.
The museum building originated in 1312 as a wooden fortress, later transformed into a Gothic castle between 1400 and 1420 by Václav of Donín.
The museum contains 185,000 items including archaeological findings, numismatic collections, and mining technology that demonstrate the regional silver mining heritage.
Visitors need to book guided tours in advance, with two main circuits available: Silver City focusing on local history and Journey of Silver exploring mining processes.
During the mine tour, participants wear traditional mining equipment and explore a 250-meter tunnel system that preserves original medieval mining marks.
