Botanical Garden Flora Olomouc, Botanical garden in Olomouc, Czech Republic
Botanical Garden Flora Olomouc is a roughly 7.5-hectare garden featuring extensive plant collections, rose gardens, and greenhouses. The Mlýnský stream divides the grounds in the center, creating distinct zones for different types of plant species.
The garden began as the Jubilee Park in 1935 and was destroyed in 1945, then rebuilt in 1965. Rose gardens constructed in the 1970s shaped the garden into its current form.
The Garden of Senses provides wooden sculptures and special areas where visitors with visual impairments can experience plants through touch. These spaces allow everyone to connect with the garden in their own way.
The garden houses roughly 1,100 plant species arranged in different sections, including dwarf conifers, ornamental grasses, and Mediterranean specimens. Tropical and palm species occupy separate greenhouses where they can be observed year-round.
The palm greenhouse stretches over 70 meters long and more than 10 meters tall, holding status as a national cultural monument. Rare cycads and succulents thrive inside this structure, plants not typically found in the region.
