Villa Primavesi

Villa Primavesi is a private residence from the Vienna Secession movement in Olomouc, built in 1906 by architect Franz von Krauss. The house has an unusual layout resembling an English hall, with mosaic decorations and a copper fountain in the dining room, plus stained glass windows showing scenes of Olomouc.

The house was built in 1906 as a residence for banker Otto Primavesi and his wife Eugenia, representing the Vienna Secession style. Over time, the building was converted into a gallery and gained the status of a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Inside, you can see artworks by Anton Hanak, Josef Hoffmann, and Gustav Klimt that show what artists and collectors valued in the early 1900s. The rooms reflect how wealthy patrons of that time furnished their homes with important contemporary pieces.

The building is located at Univerzitní 7 and operates today as the Primavesi Gallery, welcoming visitors interested in architecture and art history. You can walk through the rooms and see how the spaces were designed and decorated during that period.

A special feature is the mosaic fountain at garden level, which was part of the thoughtful interior design program. This fountain shows craftsmanship details that are rarely found in modern architecture of that era.
