Fort Science, Interactive science museum in former artillery warehouse, Olomouc, Czech Republic
Fort Science is an interactive science museum housed in a former military warehouse in Olomouc. The building contains around 200 hands-on stations spread across different sections where you can conduct experiments and learn about nature and society.
This building was originally part of the Crown Fortress of Olomouc, constructed during the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. In 2015, the military site was converted into a science center, giving the location a new purpose.
The exhibits link scientific discovery to the industrial heritage of this former fortress complex. You experience how ideas about nature and society developed in a building that once served a completely different purpose.
The museum is easy to navigate and has clear sections for different age groups if you are visiting with children. It helps to allow time for working through the stations, as many visitors like to conduct experiments themselves.
You can walk through an oversized model of the human brain and experience scientific functions up close. You can also experiment with flood simulations and explore enlarged insect models in detail.
