Jiří Myron Theatre

The Jiří Myron Theatre is a performance venue in Ostrava featuring neo-renaissance architecture where opera, drama, ballet, and musicals are presented. The hall seats around 623 people and is equipped with modern facilities that allow audiences to experience various forms of theatrical art.

The theatre originated in the 1890s from the Reader Committee Society's initiative, which drove the construction of a national house designed by architect Josef Srba. A major fire in 1976 destroyed the building but prompted extensive restoration by architects Ivo Klimeš and Radim Ulmann that shaped its current form.

This venue brings together opera and ballet enthusiasts who gather for performances that shape the cultural life of the region. Different artistic companies present varied genres on stage, allowing audiences to experience a living local arts scene.
