Chodovská tvrz, Medieval fortified house in Chodov district, Prague, Czech Republic
The circular fortress features an internal courtyard surrounded by an arcade gallery, with Gothic gates and preserved Baroque wagon vaults throughout the structure.
Originally constructed in the 13th century as a water fortress, the building underwent Baroque modifications between 1687 and 1697, followed by Classicist changes in the early 19th century.
The fortress now functions as a cultural center, offering exhibition spaces, music halls, and performance venues that showcase contemporary art and classical concerts.
Visitors can access multiple gallery spaces, concert halls, and a restaurant on the ground floor, while the first floor contains decorated rooms with restored stucco ceilings.
The fortress maintained a water moat measuring ten meters in width and four meters in depth, with a wooden bridge featuring collapsible sections for enhanced defense.
