Cimburk

Cimburk is a Gothic castle ruin located in the Chřiby mountain range at approximately 421 meters above sea level. The remains include preserved walls and towers, with a distinctive double-towered bergfried being the most recognizable feature of the site.

The castle was built between 1330 and 1340 by Bernhard von Cimburg as a strategic stronghold controlling nearby trade routes. Its position in the mountains made it an important point for territorial power in the region.

The Polypeje Society maintains the medieval structure through preservation work and organizes educational events about regional architecture.

The ruins are accessible on foot, though the terrain is uneven and located in a mountainous area that requires suitable footwear. Weather conditions change seasonally and can affect accessibility, so planning your visit according to the season is advisable.

The castle structure includes a double-towered bergfried, displaying architectural elements typical of 14th-century fortification design.
