Budova Elektrických podniků is a functionalist reinforced-concrete building with a cream-white tile facade, built between 1927 and 1935 to designs by Adolf Benš and Josef Kříž. Its wings rise four storeys, while the central section has six, the top one set back. A large entrance hall passes through four main floors, with a staircase opposite the entrance and two paternoster lifts that still operate.
Architects Adolf Benš and Josef Kříž completed this building in 1935 as an administrative headquarters for an electricity company. It marked a shift toward modernist design principles in Prague's industrial and administrative architecture.
The building reveals how office space was organized for efficiency in the 1930s, with a central atrium designed to bring light deep into the structure. The open galleries allow you to see the entire spatial hierarchy at once.
The building at Bubenská 1 is a private office complex, now the WPP Campus, and is not open to the public; there are no guided tours. Visitors can see the exterior and the 200 m² mural by Petr Sokol (Lefthendra) in the stairway underpass from the Vltvská metro station, finished in autumn 2021.
