Holešovice

Holešovice is a district in northern Prague that occupies a meander of the Vltava River and spans across parts of both Prague 7 and Prague 1. The area combines residential quarters with major cultural institutions and commercial spaces that shape its character.

The area developed as an industrial suburb during the 19th and 20th centuries, with factories and workshops dominating the landscape. This past gradually shifted as former manufacturing buildings were converted into galleries, museums, and creative spaces.

The area hosts major art institutions including the Trade Fair Palace and the DOX Centre, which define much of the neighborhood's character. These venues shape how locals and visitors experience the district as a place for art and creative expression.

The district is well connected to Prague's public transportation network through several tram lines and metro stations. This accessibility makes it easy to arrive from anywhere in the city and explore different parts of the area.

The DOX Centre features a 42-meter wooden and steel airship structure on its roof that serves as an observation point. This unusual construction offers visitors a distinctive vantage for viewing the surrounding area and provides a reading space.
