Holina, Nature reserve and protected area in Lázně Kynžvart, Czech Republic.

Holina is a forest nature reserve on the southern slope of the Slavkovský les, 2.5 km east of Lázně Kynžvart and 5 km northwest of Mariánské Lázně, at 640 to 730 m above sea level. Old, uneven-aged stands are dominated by European beech, with Norway spruce, wych elm, sycamore maple and silver fir. The bedrock is granite with quartz veins bearing jasper, and small tributaries of the Rašelinný potok flow through the reserve.

Holina was declared a nature reserve to protect a forest stand whose species mix matches the original composition of the Slavkovský les. Care of the reserve is entrusted to the Správa CHKO Slavkovský les, the administration of the protected landscape area.

The reserve forms part of the Czech Republic's environmental preservation network, managed by Správa CHKO Slavkovský les administration.

Access is available through marked trails that wind through the different habitats and sections. Wear comfortable shoes and bring appropriate clothing for changing weather, as conditions vary depending on the season and terrain.

The granite bedrock beneath most of the reserve holds quartz veins with jasper, while a small amphibolite massif rises at the western edge. In small pools the alpine newt breeds in numbers, and the lesser spotted flycatcher nests in the old-growth stands.
