Homolka, Nature reserve in Praha-Velká Chuchle, Czech Republic.
Homolka is a nature reserve in Praha-Velka Chuchle covering about 13 hectares and serving as a protected habitat for local species. The site overlaps with Chuchelske hajen and contains several walking paths for observing the natural environment.
The reserve received official protection status on July 1, 1982, following a decade of planning discussions that began in 1972. This lengthy preparation reflected the authorities' commitment to preserving the area.
Information panels and three seating areas added in 2015 help visitors learn about local plants and wildlife through displays and wooden puzzles. The educational features make the space feel welcoming and encourage people to notice the natural surroundings.
The site is managed by Prague City Hall and offers clearly marked walking paths for visitors to explore. Wear appropriate footwear and be cautious during wet weather, as trails can become muddy.
Scientists have recorded eight invertebrate species from the national Red List in this area, including the Baton Blue butterfly population. These rare insects indicate the area's ecological health and diversity.
