Javorová skála, Mountain summit in Vlašim Highlands, Czech Republic
Javorová skála is a mountain summit in the Vlašimská Highlands located about 6.5 kilometers north of Jistebnice. At 723 meters in elevation, it stands as the highest peak in the region and provides views across the surrounding terrain.
In the late 19th century, the area received the nickname Czech Meran, drawing inspiration from the Italian town of Merano. This comparison reflected how the region was gaining attention during that period.
The name comes from maple trees that grow on the slopes. Local stories about Čertovo břemeno, a nearby granite formation, remain part of the region's folk traditions.
Green-marked trails connect the summit to Jistebnice and Cunkov villages, while a yellow-marked path runs from Nadějkov. Bring appropriate footwear since some sections have steep gradients.
The northeastern slope contains durbachite, a rare variety of syenite rock named after the Čertovo břemeno formation nearby. This distinctive stone type makes the mountain of special interest to geology enthusiasts.
