Vodopády Bílé Opavy

Vodopády Bílé Opavy is a waterfall series in a mountain gorge featuring multiple cascading drops and a main waterfall standing about 8 meters high. The water flows through narrow canyon passages between steep rock walls, creating striking natural formations.

The site formed through water erosion over millions of years that carved deep canyons into the rock. In the 1970s a large boulder became stuck between the waterfall drops and permanently changed how the water flows over the main cascade.

The name Bílá Opava means 'White Opava' and refers to the light coloring of the water caused by minerals and sediments in the river. The presence of educational panels helps visitors understand the local environment and learn about the characteristics of this flowing water system.

Visitors can explore the site using two marked hiking routes, with the blue path being approximately 5.5 kilometers and the yellow path around 5 kilometers. Safety features including ladders, bridges and chains are installed at steep sections to help you navigate the difficult canyon passages safely.

The waterfalls change dramatically depending on the season and water levels, sometimes becoming nearly dry during warm months and transforming into powerful cascades after heavy rain. These shifts mean that each visit offers a different experience of the landscape.
