Colonnade on Reisten

The Colonnade on Reisten is a classical structure of arranged columns with a roof set on the Homole Hill overlooking Valtice Castle. The building follows a neoclassical design with evenly spaced supports that frame the surrounding landscape.

The structure was built in the early 19th century as part of the Lednice-Valtice landscape redesign under the Liechtenstein family's rule. It formed one piece of a larger vision to enhance the princely estates with refined architectural additions.

The colonnade sits within a vast estate landscape that nobility created as a place for leisure and enjoying nature during the 19th century. It shows how wealthy families of that era marked their lands with structures designed for walking and contemplation.

Reachable on foot via marked trails from the town center, with rest areas placed along the climb to the hilltop. The grounds are well-maintained and offer plenty of space to pause and catch your breath during the walk.

From this spot you can see across three different countries at once: the Czech Republic, Austria, and Slovakia all lie within view from the elevated position. The vista makes the border region feel immediately present and tangible.
