Vratislavský palác, Neoclassical palace in Malá Strana, Czech Republic
Vratislavský palác is a Baroque palace in Malá Strana with a classical facade and symmetrical layout. The building surrounds a small courtyard and features extensive terraces with a central fountain at its heart.
The palace began taking shape in 1671 when Kryštof František Vratislav purchased two adjacent houses and merged them into one grand residence by the century's end. This transformation created one of Malá Strana's most notable Baroque structures.
Archaeological excavations in the garden revealed 77 graves from an 11th-century cemetery and structural remains dating back to the 12th century.
The building today houses the Irish Embassy and an American cultural center within its rooms. A thorough renovation during the 1990s updated the interior spaces to meet modern needs.
The gardens contain two small domed pavilions positioned at opposite corners, serving as charming focal points. Beyond these sits a grotto with a well, surrounded by rectangular grass areas edged with yew hedges.
