Fremuthova jedle, Solitary tree in Česká Kubice, Czech Republic.
Fremuthova jedle is a silver fir growing on a southern slope below Čerchov mountain in Česká Kubice. The tree rises high above the surrounding forest and has a substantial trunk diameter.
The tree received protected status in 1994 when it was officially recognized by authorities. Measurements taken in 2009 using climbing techniques confirmed its exceptional height among protected trees in the country.
Local environmental groups regularly monitor this silver fir as part of broader initiatives to document and preserve natural heritage in the Domažlice district.
The tree is accessible via an unpaved forest road from Dolní Folmava, with a turn at the pond near a former summer house marking the route. The woodland path leads directly to this location.
The crown does not begin until approximately 30 meters high, leaving an unusually long and exposed trunk. This structure developed from competition with surrounding trees and shows natural branch drying from the shading effect of the surrounding forest.
