Church of the Transfiguration, Gothic church in Tábor, Czech Republic
The Church of the Transfiguration features three distinct grottoes, including dedicated spaces for Christ and chapels for Moses and Elijah in the west towers.
The religious structure stands on the foundations of an ancient Byzantine church from the 4th century and incorporates elements of a 12th-century Crusader building.
The church displays a notable mosaic of the Transfiguration in its upper section, which receives natural illumination during specific daylight hours.
The religious monument welcomes more than 6,000 visitors annually, with temporary closures occurring between noon and 2:00 PM for maintenance purposes.
Architect Antonio Barluzzi incorporated an alabaster roof in the original 1924 design to maximize natural light before modifications for water protection.
