Magnetovec – Skalní hřib, Nature reserve in Homole u Panny, Czech Republic.
Magnetovec – Skalní hřib is a protected rock formation in the České středohoří region. The structure consists of two distinct volcanic layers shaped by erosion into a mushroom form, with a wider cap balanced on a narrower pedestal.
The site received official nature reserve status in 1992, establishing formal protection for this geological formation. This designation ensured long-term conservation of the rock structure within the region.
The unusual shape and geological makeup draw visitors interested in natural rock formations and the area's volcanic past.
The formation is accessible via marked hiking trails starting from the nearby village of Velké Březno. A full loop route through the area makes for a moderate half-day walk suitable for most visitors.
The mushroom shape developed because the two rock layers eroded at different rates due to their varying densities. This selective wearing by wind and water created a naturally sculpted formation that resembles human-made art.
