Velké Březno Castle

Velké Březno Castle is a residence featuring Renaissance Revival and Empire-style architecture, with balanced facades and ornamental details covering its exterior. The manor house contains furnished rooms and is surrounded by a garden laid out across the property.

A nobleman named Karl Chotek hired architect Ludwig Förster in 1842 to build this manor house, a project that took 3 years to complete. The family then made it their home and used it as their estate for generations afterward.

The rooms display furniture and objects that reflect how the Bohemian nobility lived in the 1800s. Visitors can see the daily surroundings and lifestyle choices of the wealthy family who once occupied these spaces.

The castle welcomes visitors from April through October and offers guided tours through the rooms and garden. Tours are conducted in multiple languages to accommodate guests from different backgrounds.

One resident of this castle was Sophie Chotek, who became a member of the Austro-Hungarian royal family through marriage. Her connection to this residence later became entwined with one of the century's pivotal historical events.
