Moučné pytle, Natural monument in Loket, Czech Republic.
Moučné pytle is a natural monument composed of granite rock formations with distinctive block jointing in the Slavkovský les protected landscape area. Frost weathering has carved steep cliffs and isolated towers that define the site's rugged terrain.
The site gained official protection in 1997 as part of the conservation network in the Karlovy Vary region. This designation safeguarded the geological formations for future study and preservation.
The site forms part of the Egeria Geopark, which connects to the Czech-Bavarian geopark system, promoting geological education and research.
The site lies roughly 1 kilometer west of Cihelny village at elevations ranging from 620 to 643 meters. Sturdy footwear is advisable on the rocky paths, as some of the formations are steep and require careful navigation.
The tallest rock towers reach approximately 7 meters high and display three natural basins on their summits formed through millennia of weathering. These depressions collect rainwater and create small ecosystems within the rocky landscape.
