Rakovecké údolí, Nature park between Račice and Jedovnice, Czech Republic
Rakovecké údolí is a nature park located between Račice and Jedovnice in the Czech highlands region. It stretches for about 14 kilometers through rolling terrain with limestone cliffs, natural beech forests, and winding streams.
The area received protected status in 1978 to preserve its natural and archaeological value. Medieval settlement remains, including the village of Bystřec from the 13th century, testify to past human presence in the valley.
The valley serves as a destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts throughout the region. Local residents and visitors use the trails to experience the landscape and observe native plants and wildlife in their natural habitat.
The park is easily accessible by regular bus service from Brno to Jedovnice, with parking available near the partisan memorial north of Račice. The trails are well marked and suitable for walkers of different fitness levels, though they are most enjoyable during drier weather.
The valley floor contains several natural springs, including the artesian Pavlína spring that flows without artificial pumping. These water sources create damp habitats that support specialized plant and animal species found throughout the protected area.
