Černá hora

Černá hora is an observation tower located on a mountain peak near Janské Lázně at an elevation of roughly 1254 meters. The 21 meter structure serves both as a public viewing platform and as a broadcasting station for the surrounding area.

The tower was completed in 1998 and opened to visitors as an observation point, reflecting the growing tourism interest in the mountain region. It was also developed as a key telecommunications hub to serve the surrounding areas.

The observation tower functions as a meeting point for local residents and tourists who gather to experience Czech mountain traditions and regional customs.

The easiest way to reach the tower is by taking the Lanovka Janské Lázně cable car, which connects the town to the mountain year-round. The short ride saves you a strenuous walk up the slope.

The structure serves two completely different purposes simultaneously: while visitors enjoy panoramic views from the platform, the transmitter continuously broadcasts signals across the mountains. This dual function often goes unnoticed by guests but makes the building exceptionally valuable to the region.
