The Church of Saint Henry is a single-nave neo-Gothic building with a polygonal presbytery, plain stone walls and shallow buttresses, its facade topped by a small tower. It stands on the Porubaný hill above the Šance reservoir, at the edge of Staré Hamry.

The cornerstone of the neo-Gothic Church of Saint Henry was laid on 12 July 1863 on Porubaný hill, as the date carved by the entrance records. According to the chronicle, construction lasted 1,000 days and was completed in 1865, making it the parish church for Staré Hamry and nearby settlements. The parish was abolished in 1994 and attached to Ostravice.

The church became the parish church for Staré Hamry and the surrounding hamlets, and the date 12 July 1863 is carved on the wall by the entrance. Near the cemetery wall stands a monument to Maryčka Magdonová, erected in 1933. The parish was abolished in 1994 and attached to Ostravice.

The church stands on the edge of Staré Hamry above the Šance reservoir, not in the village centre, and since 1994 it has belonged to the Ostravice parish. After the reservoir was built the church, cemetery and surrounding buildings were left unmaintained, so expect an overgrown, unkempt setting.
