MO-S 18 V oboře casemate

MO-S 18 V is a reinforced infantry casemate constructed from concrete with a reconstructed steel dome at an isolated location near Šilheřovice. The fortification represents the standard design of Czechoslovak border defenses from this period and is accessed via an educational pathway.

Completed in 1936, the casemate formed a critical part of Czechoslovakia's defense system as World War II approached. It served as one of many fortifications constructed to secure the nation's borders.

The site holds official status as a protected cultural monument within the Czech Republic's heritage system. This designation reflects its importance in preserving the memory of the nation's past.

The casemate lies on a walking route that connects to the Czechoslovak Fortification Museum in Darkovicky, allowing it to be easily combined with a broader visit. The pathway is generally accessible on foot but requires sturdy footwear and careful attention to the ground conditions.

A memorial plaque at the entrance honors Jaroslav Svarc, who was stationed here before participating in a 1942 operation against Reinhard Heydrich. This connection reveals how small border posts became intertwined with major historical events.
