Svatobor

Svatobor is a stone observation tower with 182 steps leading to a viewing platform that overlooks the Šumava Mountains and Central Bohemian Highlands. From the top, visitors see rolling hills and valleys stretching across the surrounding landscape.

The tower was built in 1934, replacing an earlier structure from 1890 at the same location. The reconstruction was part of efforts by the Czech Tourist Club to develop hiking destinations and outdoor recreational sites.

The tower serves as a gathering place for hikers and nature enthusiasts passing through the area. Its stone structure has become a familiar landmark in the outdoor recreation habits of locals and visitors.

Visitors can reach the tower by following a marked hiking trail from Sušice's town center or using the nearby parking area. An adjacent building with overnight facilities provides a convenient rest stop for hikers.

From the platform, visitors can take organized scooter rides down through the surrounding forest trails. This unusual activity takes advantage of the natural slope and offers an adventure beyond typical hiking.
