The Church of the Holy Spirit stands 49 meters tall with a basilica structure, displaying Late-Gothic and Baroque architectural elements throughout its construction.
Built between 1732 and 1737 by architect Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer, the church replaced a Gothic structure from the 13th century on the same location.
The interior contains numerous Baroque decorations, altars, and a metal sculpture of the Holy Spirit dove created by Monsignor Ladislav Jurovatý.

During the 1945 Prague uprising, the church served as a concealed broadcasting location for Radio Prague operated by Czech resistance fighters.
