The Church of Saint John the Baptist is a Baroque building located in central Teplice, featuring white exterior walls, ornamental facade details, and a prominent bell tower that rises above the surrounding cityscape. The interior space combines religious function with artistic design, organized around a central nave with supporting columns and decorated surfaces.

The present church was built between 1585 and 1594 on the foundations of a Romanesque basilica uncovered in excavations after World War II. The tower was completed in 1594, lowered in 1645, and the Baroque enlargement took place between 1700 and 1703 under master mason Christian Lagler. Renovations followed in 1789, 1877, 1890 and after 2000.

The church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, patron of the healing springs that made Teplice a spa town. In summer the tower gallery, once the bell-ringer's lodging, opens as a viewing walkway over the town centre, and the church hosts regular services and sacred-music concerts.

The building is easily accessible in the central area where visitors can arrive on foot and explore the bell tower at their own pace. The climb involves steep stairs, so taking time to ascend at a comfortable pace allows for better enjoyment of views from higher levels.

The tin baptismal font dates from 1511–1517 and carries four reliefs of saints with an inscription. In the tower wall a small remnant of a Renaissance fresco with a Czech inscription from 1594 survives. The tower gallery once held the bell-ringer's flat.
