Borek, Stone quarry in Nebílovský Borek, Czech Republic.
Borek quarry sits on the northwestern slope of Farská skála and was systematically worked to extract high-quality granite and limestone. The extraction area spreads across a significant expanse, following the natural contours of the hillside.
Operations started before World War II and continued through the 1990s, when water gradually flooded the site. The transformation into a lake ended the extraction phase.
The quarry supplied local stonework workshops with materials, supporting regional construction practices through the production of decorative and building stones.
The site is now accessible as a flooded lake, but visitors should be aware of its depth and water conditions. Learning about safety considerations and current conditions is wise before approaching.
The flooded site reaches depths of around 30 meters and attracts divers who document underwater discoveries. One notable find is a submerged articulated bus resting on the bottom.
